Have been an Engineer, Engineering Manager, Engineering
Director,OperationsManager, VP of Operations, VP of Quality,
Division VP, Group VP, CEO and a Consultant.

Have always worked in a manufacturing environment. Specialty
was turnaround of operations that had become chronic problems
and had to be fixed quickly. The one startup supported as
Engineering Manager, became the best operation of its type in
the industry and our Product Line had number one market share
for many years. Was an Engineer/Engineering Manager for
12 Years, a P&L Manager for 16 years including 10 years as a
VP. Acquired a strong financial background during the years
as a P&L Manager.

The two companies where I spent the most time were Texas
Instruments and VLSI Technology. I am an Electrical Engineer
(U.C. Berkeley)  and have spent about equal time as an
Engineer /Engineering manager and as an Operations
Manager/VP. I was a Group VP/GM at Texas Instruments,
a demanding company where only the "always successful"
survive.

During the past 7 years I have consulted with over 40 people
who were small company owners or in the process of starting
a small company. I am a small company owner.

Fully understand modern management approaches and their
pluses and limitations. Am an experienced process improvement
team facilitator and was trained as an ISO 9000 lead assessor.
I was an Examiner for both the California State Quality Awards
and the Florida Sterling Awards, which both use the Malcolm
Baldrige National Quality Award Criteria. The latter are not part of
our consulting practice but I can help you find specialized expertise.
