Hope Rising is no longer able to offer weekly showers and laundry services. We are actively looking for a new partner who can make a shower laundry/Shower facility available for one morning a week. Hope Rising will provide staffing, setup, cleanup, towels etc.

8/7/06 Hope Rising Article on Homeless Survey Results

The Newport News Times published an article in the July 28, 2006 edition with a good summary of the results of the survey of Homeless people in Lincoln County conducted by Hope Rising in late 2004 and 2004. The article was based on in interview of Richard Sherlock, the Executive Director of Hope Rising by Joe Gollub of the News Times. 8/2/06 Hope Rising/Progressive Options Shower/Laundry.

Hope Rising, working with Progressive Options and volunteers,  will open the back area of Progressive Options for showers and laundry each Friday for 4 hours from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. The ability to provide this service depends on volunteers and all going well to insure we can continue to use the Progressive Options facility.

7/28/06 Calvary Baptist Update

Calvary Baptist Church will longer be able to provide a daily lunch and showers. Richard Sherlock reports they hope to be able to offer some alternative service in the future.
